About Jenn
Dr. Jennifer (Jenn) Veilleux is a professor of clinical psychology at the University of Arkansas, where she directs the Treating Emotion and Motivational Processes Transdiganostically (TEMPT) lab. And yes, she knows that is a mouthful, but the name fits because the lab does research on temptations, urges, and emotions that seem to sway people to do things they know aren’t great for them. She has published over 80 peer-reviewed papers so far.
Jenn earned her PhD at the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2011, and became licensed in the state of Arkansas in 2013. She opened a part-time private practice in 2022. Basically, she has the expertise needed to write a book, and the clinical experience to know some of the ways in which people struggle with their feelings (and how to help them struggle less). She has over a decade of experience teaching about emotion, personality, research methods and statistics, and in training graduate students in the provision of psychotherapy.
When not writing or teaching, Jenn can be found hiking with her kids in Fayetteville, Arkansas. And sometimes her husband, who has been dubbed a “city mouse” and prefers the concrete over rocky trails. Jenn also loves to read Young Adult “spicy dragon books” (i.e., fantasy-romance), and she listens to musicals and podcasts on her every-other-day 2 mile runs. She also loves TV and movies and would watch more of them if she had more time. Jenn is currently obsessed with Animal Crossing and very much wants to catch a pop-eyed goldfish.
